Alex & Rachel Marriage Proposal at 10,746′

Alex contacted me because he knew that he wanted to ask his girlfriend Rachel to marry him. He had bought the ring and had already made vacation plans to Denver. He wanted to “pop the question” somewhere in the mountains. I had scouted the lake at St. Mary’s Glacier for his location. I sent him photos of the site and told him that I would leave a marker so he knew exactly where to take a knee. With Old Man Winter lagging this year I was worried that we would not have snow in the mountains to accommodate his dream marriage proposal. Lucky for everyone a last minute winter storm blew in on the day we had coordinated for his big day. And here is what I saw…

Pre Proposal

Rachel had no idea what Alex had planned for her and Alex did not know exactly where I was hiding. I was able to capture these shots as they walked up the predetermined trail that I had planned for them.

St Marys Glacier Taking a Knee

From the trees I could capture Alex down on one knee asking Rachel to marry him.

Zooming in I could see her priceless reaction even through the heavy snowfall.

“Ring shock” is one of my favorite moments during a marriage proposal.
