Jason and Rebecca live in Georgia. Jason is a pilot and Rebecca is finishing up her education to become an optometrist. One of this couple’s first adventures together was a ski trip out to Vail, CO. It was only fitting that Jason propose marriage to Rebecca in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains.
Jason contacted me after learning about my marriage proposal photography service from Nova Guides. Jason explained to me that he wanted to take a snowmobile ride up into the mountains and ask for Rebecca’s hand in marriage. That was about the extent of his plan so far. Luckily for both of them I had been up on Machine Gun Ridge earlier in the season and sent him some photos of what he could expect. Jason loved what he saw and our plan was coming together.
On the day of the planned proposal, Jason and I met very breifly inside the lodge while Rebecca was out in the car. I gave him a map and pointed out exactly where and when he need to be. I told him that I had a bottle of champagne packed in my backpack and told him to breath. I wished him good luck and I headed up the mountain.
I staged my snowmobile at a key intersection and waited for Jason and Rebecca to climb up to me. As soon as he saw me I proceeded up the mountain. This was all part of our plan to ensure that Jason knew exactly where to go. I told him to park next to my sled on top of the mountain and hike along the ridge until he saw my Nalgene bottle. This was his “mark” to drop to one knee and this is what it looked like…
